I enlisted in the army and had the opportunity to take additional classes outside my area of training in many fields. After the army I enrolled in college and have been a student since. I hold 2 licenses. I have an AS in mortuary science, an AA in General Education, and a BS in Psychology. While achieving my degree in General Education I became a guest speaker at the same college in a business management class for many years,trying to help other students operate their own successful small businesses. Working with students and education has been a part of my life for about 11 years. I first began doing so in high school, around 1999 working as a volunteer with the YMCA. Eventually I became a counselor and would work my way up to Camp Director. I am proud to say that I am the first of my family to attend a University. Currently I am a senior at Cuny Lehman College in the Bronx, NY where I study English Literature and minor in Secondary Education. Recently I have just returned from studying at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. The year abroad helped me to better understand my culture and gain a stronger grip on my native language.
