A Little Bit About Me...

For me, teaching isn't about pounding new material into their head, it's about helping them understand the material they're given and actually having fun learning. That's why my teaching style is all about fun and retention.
I have many volunteer hours stacked up working with groups of children, but I would love to teach on a more personal basis to build my one-on-one skills. I'm currently an education major at Colorado State University, and while music is my emphasis, I was always very studious in school and am well-versed in other subjects. My experience in tutoring began in high school when I volunteered for my local library, in a program aimed towards improving students’ reading ability. Having had considerable difficulty learning to read myself, I felt it was important that I attempt to pass this on to others. When I entered Knox College I was focusing on English, and ended up helping my fellow students with writing and editing their papers.

I have always been a believer in giving students a foundation from which to learn and grow. I enjoy teaching students basic skills that can be applied to many different subject areas. I just finished at the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Biology and Secondary education. I can teach 7-12th grade all science areas and really enjoy all levels of science. Going through high school and college I obtained a great work ethic which helped me succeed to the Dean's list, and various other titles.
