Let me Guide Your Child

I prefer that the student understands the purpose behind learning. In order to achieve my goal, I spend quality time in talking and developing an effective communication platform. I avoid doing rote learning. Therefore I make the worksheets and lesson plan as application based as I can. Some techniques and strategies are also employed on occasions.
Having taught for more than five years as a certified teacher, I feel that I have what it takes to be an educator. Understanding the psyche of the student is of prime significance to me, which helps me in directing the teaching strategies and techniques. In order to let the student realize the significance of learning, I try to design a curriculum that is application based.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring people when I was in the eigth grade. I decided I wanted to help out at the school across the street from my middle school in Colorado. I enrolled in a class that allowed us to go and assist the teachers and help the students. I fell in love with kids then for sure. I already knew I liked them because I started babysitting when I was 11 and couldn't stop! Then in ninth grade, a neighbor failed kindergarten and asked if I would starting coming over several days a week to help him understand what was being taught. Needless to say, he made it to the first grade! I now have a 17 year old sister who is constantly asking for my assistance in her homework and it is with great pleasure that I assist her.
I have a background in Psychology, so I am extremely intuitive with what a person needs regarding their learning style. I am able to adapt my teaching style to their needs ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

In having a science background, I have not only learned laboratory skills and reasoning skills, but I have learned how to increase efficiency, communicate in a clear manner, and write in a way that is direct and clear. I enjoy learning, and I instill that passion into my students as best I can. I grew up with a mom who is an English teacher, so I have developed good communication skills and writing skills from her. I have taught Biology for two years at the college level and I very much enjoy the experience of knowing that what you have been trying to convey to your students just hit home. That is a great feeling.
I think it takes a lot for one teacher to reach all of types of students who are all at different levels of interest in the subject being taught as well as at different levels of understanding. However, I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to give them all equal ... read more

I attained a BA in English while maintaining an A average, staying on the dean’s list, and earning scholarships. Minoring in history has allowed me to couple literary pieces with historical background to provide a deeper understanding. I am also highly skilled in college essay writing, teaching various styles and formats. After college, I taught 12th grade English at Lamar High School for two years, with notable improvement of all my students and their success in college, including behaviorally challenged students.

Every child can learn but since everyone is different, a different approach is needed to ensure the information and abstract concepts are fully understood. Auditory learners like myself would learn best from an entertaining lecture followed by auditory questions designed for the learner to discover for him or herself what it is they were looking for with myself as a guide. Visual learners would learn best by a movie or re-enactment, and some reading. Kinesthetic learners would need a hands on experience to get a better understanding. In all cases students will realize that they themselves can figure out for themselves the 'hows' and 'whys' of history and show me by answering some questions and re-teaching it to me.
I have always had a fascination with the past; as a child I read book after book on dinosaurs and as an adult I studied and received a BA in History with a minor in Po ... read more
