I believe in learning by discovery and the use of manipulatives in a manner whereby the student learns without even knowing it. The discovery approach is best to grasping knowledge but to process any and all information is tantamount. Knowing what to do with the information is far more important than just possessing it. I enjoy watching others learn and come to the realization that they can achieve their goals. My teaching/tutoring style is relaxed and pro-active. The more the student discovers on their own with only a little coaching and encouragement will last longer than if someone shows every step. I believe in a practical hands one real world method. If what the student is learning is not relavent to the real world and their lives they are less likely to learn it.
