As a music therapist, I learned to apply my creativity to design instruction that allows the learner to be actively and successfully engaged in learning. As a special educator, I learned to quickly problem-solve if a support strategy is not successful. I've worked with students with all levels of learning challenges (those with and without formal disability labels) and can help each learner become confident in their abilities.I understand how teachers are trained, keep current with research, and know how schools function structurally, which helps me think about where things may break down for the individual learner. I have taught at-risk youth (ages 16-25) at Northlands Job Corps in Vermont. The course I taught was to prepare students for careers in Business. I have also taught Business at Middlebury Union High School in Vermont. I have 14 years of Corporate Training at L.L. Bean, ICT Corporation, and The Killington Travel Service. I also taught one graduate level course for teachers at Middlebury High School. The course was about transforming classes in to School To Work classes.
I posess a Bachelors Degree in Finance and a Masters Degree in Education. I have been able to successfully combine these two areas in school environments as well as corporate environments. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved working with children. Through my experience as a special education instructor, I have learned children can learn in a variety of ways. My teaching philosophy is that each child has different strengths, and it is imperative to tailor an educational program to these strengths. By highlighting what a student is good at, their confidence is increased. This confidence will help them overcome academic obstacles. I believe that teachers play a huge role inthe success of their students, and that with the right support system, any child can acheive their academic goals.
I feel very strongly about the importance of a good education. Having a degree in English, I have much experience in using proper grammar, technical writing skills and creative writing skills. I have tutored students in the area of English, biology, history and some spanish.
