Graduate student looking to help students achieve their goals!

I have tutored children off and on since I was in high school. More recently, my time has been spent volunteering with The Giving Tree, where I tutored inner-city children after school and helped organize activities (museums, zoo, etc.) on the weekends. A Little Bit About Me...

Most of my experience has been with adults as learners--coaching, supervising, teaching groups of staff and colleagues in the mental health field, and now--teaching CPA candidates on what they need to pass the CPA exams. Prior to my work as a CPA and as a manager of human services programs, I was a clinician, working with children and adolescents and their families. I am not sure I have one teaching style. I strongly believe that an education that leads with concepts instead of rote is the surest route to lifelong success. This is certainly the method that worked for me, and I find that, without the conceptual grounding, a student will not get as much out of necessary practice exercises. Thus, when I am working with a student on a subject, I tend to approach the concept foremost, creatively using a wide range of examples and descriptions to elucidate it.
