I have over ten years of experience in the education field in the capacity of teaching. I have a BS in mathematics and a MA in Teaching. I hold two valid professional teaching certificates in Mathematics,Academically Gifted education, and Gifted and talented education for the states of NC and SC. I have been a high school math teacher for 10 years, an adult high school and GED teacher for eight years. I also have over 12 years of tutoring experience in mathematics, science, and reading. As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. I’m eager to work as a tutor and use my experience to help advance someone else’s education. I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.

Many teachers will say the same thing, that they love teaching and it is only outside factors that will disrupt a class and make it difficult for some students to learn. I delight in helping students to acquire new knowledge and there is satisfaction in having students thank the teacher after a class. I like to work with small groups and encourage these groups to explore and teach each other from my leading. Sometimes however, extraneous issues prevent students from learning adequately at school and I welcome the opportunity to supplement this education with one on one or group tutoring. As a Fayetteville State University undergraduate, I did a lot of volunteer work with high school student. I also worked in the school's computer lab assisting students with classwork and homework. I have tutored students for the SATs. My specific field is English but I can also tutor in Spanish. I have an extensive amount of knowledge in grammar and composition as well as anything in the literature field. My passion since I was 5 years old has always been teaching.
