My comments on tutoring Journalism : I have written some journalism piecework over the years.

I have over of 30 years of progressive experience in tutoring young children in the elementary years of education in all subject matter areas. My specialty is literacy and reading, but I am also adept in teaching all of the math curricula as well. I also firmly believe that teaching organizational skills and proper research methodologies are very important for the classroom today--and every child needs these skills in order to excel in the classroom and survive. I am also a qualified art teacher in the NOVA area.
I believe in tutoring so that the child receives feedback and fully understands his/her own limitations and how to overcome obstacles in class. Many children lack positivity in the methodology! I also believe that using art instruction helps children to learn in a more creative manner.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is that of an energetic and enthusiastic mentor. I listen allot, work very heard to establish rapport and trust, and work with them where they need the help. I convey my own love of learning and how important reading comprehension, writing skills, tha ability to convey one's self in both writing and speech is, and how much they will need these skills to get ahead in life. I try to "partner" with them to help them to move forward. I try to help my students realize accomplishment, however small, at each step of the way. Empowerment is what many students need.
