A Little Bit About Me...

As a young student in grade school I wanted to be a mathematics teacher. I pursued my goal and became that teacher. I have experience as a high school mathematics teacher for 5 years and adult education mathematics teacher for 22 years. Geometry and Trigonometry was taught to Tool and Die apprentices working towards their journeyman’s certificate. I instructed students in basic arithmetic to make them more knowledgeable doing computations. I enjoy working with students and helping them succeed. Down through the years I have done some tutoring.
I enjoy working with students and hope that my assistance will improve their mathematics skills and also have a better appreciation for it. Although my BS degree is in Computer Science, I have taken (and passed!) courses in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering - which means I have learned a lot of advanced math. My work as a software developer required writing "white papers" to explain and describe our software as well as test documents that would allow a person unfamiliar with our software to sit down and formally test it. During the last two years I have formally 'taught' a developmently disabled young person and I tutored a co-worker for two semesters.
