To whom it may concern, I have taught as a classroom teacher, a Title I teacher, and as a special education teacher. All of these experiences have given me skills I use as a teacher. I have a love of books and enjoy sharing them with children. I have always enjoyed working with children. I enjoy watching their faces when the lesson I am teaching suddenly makes sense to them! Improving the lives of children has always been a passion of mine. My teaching style is student centered based upon their individual learning styles. I am a holistic grader who is able to reach and teach even the most difficult student, such as those who have acquired "learned helplessness". A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching career began at Lyndon State College in Vermont. During my time at Lyndon, I was able to participate in many internships. Lyndon put me into the school systems/districts as early as my sophomore year. While obtaining my education degree, I also became very interested in psychology due to the nature of some of my students. Along with Education, I also obtained a Liberal Studies degree with a concentration in Psychology. I graduated Lyndon with the "Most Outstanding Senior" Award in the Education department. After graduation I received a job teaching sixth grade. I love learning and so while teaching I enrolled at the University of New England to work towards my Masters degree in Education. One of the first graduates of a dual degree program from Lesley College(www.lesley.edu),I received a BS/MEd in Early Childhood Education specializing in Early Intervention in 1999. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therapeutic Mentor for PSC of Maine(www.provcorp.com). PSC is a behavioral health agency that serves at-risk school-aged children and their families. Soon after arriving in NC in 2008, I obtained my Birth-K teaching lisence and, in 2009, began teaching full-time for the More-at-Four Pre-K program(www.darecountyschoolsonline).
