The ASVAB was first introduced in 1968 and was adopted by all branches of the military in 1976. In 2002 it underwent a major revision. I almost joined the military after college. I was in the Navy ROTC program for four years, and then decided at the last minute that I wanted to be an engineer in the private sector. However, before I realized that the ASVAB was not required to go into the ROTC program, I took it. I received a 98/100 score, which would have qualified me for any job I would have possibly wanted in the military. As far as the subject matter goes, the ASVAB is hardly any more difficult than the ACT or SAT. In fact, I would argue that it's a great deal easier. However, for those not knowing what to expect it can be intimidating, which is why most people make their mistakes on it. My goal is to help minimize the amount of mistakes that you (or your student) are prone to make on the ASVAB by instilling a familiarity for the subject matter, and helping the student get the best score possible! Greetings one

A teaching style developed over many years as a registered nurse and military NCO and officer affords me the opportunity to boast that I truly believe in the diverse talents of every person. Each student possesses a unique range of talents; however, each has his or her weaknesses as well. Tapping into one's talents and using that talent to learn new concepts associated with those weaknesses is the key to successful learning and sustained retention of information. Learning is fun; it is not fun when the student feels inadequate, insecure or scrutinized. Recognizing a student's talents is the first element in teaching, since failure to do so provides no solid foundation upon which to build. As both a registered nurse and a retired Navy officer, I am an avid practitioner of lifelong learning and a zealous teacher who has vast experience in teaching students in military and private setti

I find great joy in watching a child progress in their education. All children are capable of learning at their own pace, and through repetition. Your child will find success and ease in their academics through my assistance. I am patient and understanding, yet persistent. I firmly believe in encouraging a child to discover his/her strengths in order to overcome whatever obstacles may present themselves. I make learning fun by using everyday life siutations parallel to each equation. If more learning were hands-on, more students would be able to apply learned techniques to their situation at hand. As a college senior, I have accumulated countless hours towards tutoring and mentoring those in need. Whether it's Pre-K, Elementary, Junior High, High School and College students, I spend a great part of my life not just accomplishing goals, but taking the time to extend a hand and bringing th

Children are my passion and I love watching them explore and grow. I love working with all children. I believe that every child had the ability to learn and will learn with the proper educators involved in their lives. Children can meet their maximum potential if they are challenged and encourage by a role model. I am available to help children grow, learn, and think. A child will succeed if he/she is placed in the correct educational surrondings, given the proper materials, and given encouragement. My teaching style varies with audience. I believe that most students need to first understand what a question is asking, (we all assume what is being asked yet never give it a great deal of thought) then proceed to elaborate on the wrong answer. Study technique is to me a critical element in learning. This usually means SQ3R. I am not a talking head but rather an instigator of thought. I have retired from successful teaching but am still open to tutoring High School and Adult students. I believe I have learned more from my students over the years than from any source. I have over 22 years of teaching experience at the Secondary and Adult level. I have written and implemented several innovative courses, and redesigned curriculum to include interdisciplinary education. I have addressed several NEA conventions on teaching across curriclum boundaries. My favorite composition of curriculum wa

I graduated from UNF in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in the field of Management. The degree required classes in Accounting, Finance, Algebra and Economics. Mathematics has risen to be one of my preferred subjects, tutoring this subject for a year to date. I do believe that all children have the ability to learn the subjects however not all children are in the right mind to do so. My goal is to show in real world, understandable terms the subjects we will work on. I believe that if a child is explained the rules in terms and words he/she understands, then he/she will grasp the material and carry it with them into the future rather than trying to cram for an exam with no retention.
