As a vocational expert/counselor I have taught, trained,and tested (interest, IQ, aptitude etc) both clients and employees. I worked with average intelligence adolescents and adults. I also assisted the special education teacher at Hanover Learning Center (approximately 7 years)working with mild and moderately impaired adolescents in the classroom. In the vocational and job placement responsibilities, I coordinated, and assisted/taught client to help them obtain their GED.
Naturally I would set goals and objectives (Independent Educational Plan). Depending if the individual's assets or deficits (weaknesses) would determine my teaching style. It was determined by the type of approach that would benefit the individual best. Some people are visual versus audtory, or hands on learners.

While at Salisbury University, I studied Environmental Issues and firmly believe in the theory I learned that education in the beginning for everything. I have always loved learning, and as a result, I also pursued a minor in Chemistry, for the sheer love of science. Immediately after college, I spent the summer teaching riding lessons at a camp in Colorado. In the evenings, I took off my cowboy boots and spent my time acting as co-counselor in a cabin full of elementary to middle school aged girls, depending on the session. I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. I base alot of my instruction on analogies; when a person can relate an experience or another word to a term being tought, their understanding is broadened and 99% of the time embedded in the longterm memory. That to me is not only developing the ability to draw on a built up knowledge base, but also broadens ones ability to convey what has been learned.

As stated above I enjoy working with children of all ages, I have made a difference in their lives as well as them making a difference in my life.
