I have recently retired after 30+ years as an elementary special and regular education teacher. For the past 15 years I have also worked as a tutor for the city of White Plains. I have done extensive private tutoring for the past 20 years. For 17 years I worked as an elementary special education classroom teacher at New York Hospital in an out-patient day treatment program. This program involved elementary school age children who displayed severe emotional and academic difficulties and were unable to function in a regular school setting.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I teach social studies, but my specialization is teaching argumentative (college level) writing.I have done plenty of SAT prep and tutoring for students at the high school and college level. I am also a school counselor and can offer a vast array of services including FASFA, Naviance/Common Application and college/career counseling.
My style of education is to teach by modeling. Students need to see things in a step-by-step format with instructions, followed by an immediate example. I also provide sample argumentative essays for students who learn by seeing a complete model. My counseling style is to work with students, first by building a rapport and then using that as the foundation to get a feel for their college/career interests. I then look at their grades to help them build a custom transitional plan into early adulthood.
