A Little Bit About Me...

In my experience as a teacher in the church,I have worked with a variety of students from young to old, from very intelligent to the mentally challenged. Thus I have learned to be flexible. One style does not suit all. With one on one or a small group, the ability to change to fit the student population is extremely important. Especially with composition, it is important to help students be able to write about what they see and feel. I think I can do that,

I have been teaching four years. I am a highly driven person and expect a lot of myself as well as my students. I earned a BA degree in English Literature, and a Master of Arts degree in English/Creative writing from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Curently,I teach grammar, language arts,and journalism at Warren County high school.I am skilled in many forms and genres of writing(research papers, essays, reports, prose, poetry, and theater) for two years I taught creative writing as writer in residence at InsideOut, one of the best high-school writing programs in the country, as well as VSA Arts, where I assisted students with disabilities with their grammar and composition.

Interactive as well as practical 1st I teach the grammatical aspect 2nd put to practice the lesson by a) doing practical exercises and b) interactive (students will repeat pronounciations with me and then practice with each other in groups or with partners)I will go to each group and listen to them and make corrections if need be 3rd I will instruct a student individually during the practical exercises or group sessions when I feel a student is not capturing an aspect of a lesson (understanding, pronounciation or grammatical)
Teaching to me is a vocation and not just a job. I enjoy helping children achieve their peek potential in the subject matter at hand.
