My comments on tutoring Algebra : Have taught Algebra I for the past 10 years

Have taught at the high school level for the past 10 years. I have served as a tutor at the high school and college levels for the past four years. I have my Master's in Education and have a degree in Mathematics as well. I have taught levels of math ranging from 8th grade math, all the way up to college level calculus and statistics. I love the application of math and finding the "why" in what is that most people struggle with math.
I like to take concepts and apply them to topics and fields that you are interested in. Math can be applied so many different ways, and when that connection is made at a personal level, it makes it that much more relevant.

In May of 2009 I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and Chemistry. During my undergraduate career I worked a semester as a Supplemental Instruction Leader. My position required me to help further students understanding of Molecular and Cellular Biology. After I received my degree I spent a summer teaching Chemistry, Biology, and Physics to under-priviledged high school students for the Upward Bound program at The University of South Dakota. I prefer one on one settings for teaching, but I have no problem standing in front of people. I use my work experience to apply what the student has learned in the classroom and instruct them how the subject is applied in today's work force. I am able to give instructions and address feedback when applicable. Although I have not taught in a formal classroom, I have held numerous professional meetings in the past for previous employers. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as the department tutor for a first semester calculus based physics course at my university. I also graded undergraduate physics homework for second semester calculus based physics. Throughout my undergraduate education, I worked as a research during the summer and post graduation, I spent continued school for a year as a graduate student. Then I took a year off to see the world as a consultant. I was not able to obtain a teaching job when I graduated from college so went to work in the field of business. My jobs included: private secretary to a County Judge, bookkeeper, loan processor for a savings and loan, receptionist, cashier, manager, assistant librarian and owner of an electric motor repair business.
