I began learning Biblical Hebrew from grades K-10, then began pursuing a minor in Jewish Studies at the University of Delaware. This is where I received an education in Modern Hebrew, and have currently reached an intermediate level in spoken and written forms. Furthermore, I have been working as a teaching assistant for the past few years at Temple Beth El with students ranging from grades 3-6. In the winter of 2012 I traveled to Israel through the Birthright program where I was able to expand my language proficiency, and am working at becoming fluent.

Customized Hebrew Learning

My experience with the Hebrew language is life long; I was born and raised in Israel. I believe that being Israeli is not enough to teach Hebrew as a second language. I was trained in the Standford System (Foreign Language Educ. Major, Miami Univ., Ohio '75) which emphasizes teaching the target language in the target language itself. So I do not teach by translating, but, rather, encourage a student to feel comfortable enough to be confused because "confusion is the garden of learning." I have a passion for helping children! Each child learns in a different way, and as teachers it is our job to meet the student where they are. I am patient, and helpful, while still pushing the student to do their best. My goal is to help students develop a love for learning.
As a college graduate, I value the importance of education. I've earned a bachelor degree- a Bs in Biology where I've gained knowledge of science and math. In addition, I also have a Teacher's Certification for Elementary Education in a Hebrew school setting from Midrashah Junior College.
