I love teaching kids. All kids can are different in the way they learn. you need to be able to recognize those kids who are auditory learners, and hands on learners and be able to make a good balance of both so both kids may benefit. I like to set goals for each tutor session weather it be something like learning the alphabet or knowing you first ten multiplication facts. You then need to set one long term goal for that child to reach. this way each day they feel as if they have succeeded and learned something. I hope i can be an educator who can make just a little difference in children's lives.

I believe that children are born smart. Some of them have special learning challenges and some have been taught to believe that they are not smart. By treating children as though they are intelligent and providing encouragement and learning opportunities, I have seen children grow and progress in almost astonishing ways. The sparkle in a child's eyes when they finally "get it" is the best paycheck.
After finishing my Masters Degree in Education I taught one year in a private school then opened my own business tutoring primarily homeschool students during the school year. The students I have worked with are primarily ages 11-18, but my experience with my own children includes the primary grades. I have tutored most subjects including reading, writing, science, history and math (through algebra).

My tutoring style is based on three principles: patience, excitement for the subject and alternative explanations. Through my tutoring experience and having children of my own I have been able to develop the patience to allow students to work through problems and gain their own understanding even when the process is lengthy. I enjoy math and the physical sciences and believe that bringing that excitement to the tutoring situation helps to motivate the student and give them the energy to succeed. Over many years and experiences I have gathered an assortment of alternative approaches for many of the more difficult concepts.
