My undergraduate experience has given me both breadth and depth in academic subjects. The curriculum I've studied at St. John's includes 4 years of language (2 Ancient Greek, 2 French); 3 years of laboratory science (physics, chemistry, biology, electricity & magnetism, etc.); 4 years of mathematics (including geometry, algebra, and calculus); and well as 4 years of "The Great Books of Western Civilization" tutorial wherein I have studied philosophy, literature, theology, political theory, and economics. I feel very comfortable in a tutoring position in most academic subjects spanning from K-college. I am most familiar with conversation, as a means of relating information and testing understanding. I enjoy the process of helping students to learn. It is a great experience to see their minds grasp a new concept or idea. I realize that each student is an individual and as such may have a different learning style than another. My goal is to facilitate that learning so they feel and are successful in conquering the lessons to be learned. I have had a variety of experiences as a teacher. I, at first, worked as a substitute for about 3 years. Then I worked as a 3rd-grade teacher in a private school for one year. Because of enrollment that position was cut. I went back to subbing for a time. From 2004-2009 I have worked for the Dallas School District as a personal tutor. I primarily worked with middle school-high school students. I tutored them both at home and at a computer lab on an internet program. That position was cut because of budget cuts. I am able to tutor in all basic subjects

As a graduate of Cedarville University in Ohio, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media. Before I pursued a degree in Media, I pursued a degree in Engineering for 3 semesters. I've taken classes such as Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry in both high school and college. I often unofficially tutored other classmates who were struggling. At the time I switched out of the Engineering major, I had a GPA of 3.05. I was not doing poorly, I was simply looking for something I was more passionate about. I found that in Media. I decided to use that degree to pursue a career in screenwriting, so I am also strong in English and writing. I love interacting with people. I like to think of myself as a people person and I've come to love teaching my classmates when they don't quite understand as well as I do.
