I use the Socratic method, meeting the students where they are, and using gentle questioning to build on that base. I start with the assumption that all children are gifted learners, and communicate that belief to them. It is essential to create a base of success upon which to build future success. I also spend time finding something to like deeply about each child; and discovering what the child is interested in. When an adult takes an interest in the child's world, and shares that interest in a positive reinforcing manner, it opens to door to learning.

I have a unique approach to teaching because my background is both analytical (numbers and science) and imaginative (theater and literature). While classroom training is my forte, I also have a solid background in teaching online. This combination is particularly useful since no two children learn in the same way. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in identifying the learning style of the student which can take some time with some. Are they a visual learner I draw pictures, maps, charts and video; if an audio learner tapes, lecture, youtube, video, etc,.. and if a kinesthetic learner then they need the hands on experience to develop the learning that is needed, so then standing back to guide the thought process without doing it for them.
I started as an Adjunct Instructor at ISU for the Geomatics Engineering program for the 2007-2008 school year. Prepare for class setup the curriculum, homework, grading and test for 10-12 students. I went to ITT Technical Institute following that and was offered to Chair School of Drafting & Design. I taught and ran the department for 2 years.
