A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a substitute teacher with the Boise School District for the past 6 years now. I have also worked for the company, Club Z tutoring. I have both a Bachelors degree as well as a Masters degree (academically) but still need to pass the Praxis II test and then student teach before I can apply for my own classroom. I prefer working with elementary age students and my speciality areas are reading, grammar, spelling, and some math. I have a high GPA of 3.8 and most of my Masters classes have enabled me to gain an understanding of reading and grammatical principles. While earning a BA in English at Reed College, I gained valuable experience in researching and writing essays on the variety of subjects required for a liberal arts degree. Within my own major, I continually practiced literary interpretation and criticism, argument development, and editing. I have also broadened my knowledge of English grammar through teaching English as a Second Language to Spanish and Italian speakers. When I was a high school student, I tutored pre-algebra, geometry and algebra, Shakespeare, World Literature, and Earth Science. I managed my own clients and improved test scores with every client. During the summer of 2005, I tutored mentally disabled children in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I attended the University of Idaho and have received a B.S. in Mathematics. While there, I worked at the Polya Math Lab, tutoring college algebra.
