A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored before but of course I wasn't paid for it because it was at my old elementary school. I helped children from ages 8-13 which I was only 11 or 12 at the time. I maybe young to tutor children and maybe I should wait until I'm 18 but, I love helping children with their homework and watch them accomplish the subject.

I am graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Sociology at Tennessee Technological University of Cookeville, TN. I transferred from a 2 year community college in Harriman, TN known as Roane State Community College. Before starting college, I graduated from Rockwood High School in Rockwood, TN, where I never made lower than a B or a high C in some of my harder classes. I started taking college classes in my Senior year of high school and I was always in the advanced Math classes up until that point. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a teacher and instructor has been centered around my experience as a musician. Learning how to play and read music drastically helped me in school in all of my other subject areas. I knew early on that I would continue to play music and also that I would want to stay involved with music in some way. A Little Bit About Me...

I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. My teaching style would consist of trying to get the student to understand what they are studying which is considerably better than just simple short term memorization.
I earned a well rounded education from Western Kentucky University with a strong emphasis in math / Engineering. Since College I have pursued the Surveying field. I have recently obtained the status of Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Kentucky. After graduating from MTSU, I went to Prague, Czech Republic to train and work as a teacher of English as a foreign language. I secured a position at Bell School International. Here I taught mostly adult students but I also had a few high school classes. I found it was more satisfying teaching the younger students and so I looked for work at the elementary level. At Horackova Elementary, I taught 6th to 9th grade English. I had a great rapport with all the students and enjoyed planning for the array of levels and age groups. The key to being a good teacher is being patient. I believe children learn best in a positive and stress-free environment. When a child does good on the work then I praise them and if they make a mistake then I explain to them the error in the homework. When I was a small child, I remember my teacher being patient and helping me along the way.
