Sometimes, a child will begin to lose interest and subsequently fall behind at school because he / she encounters some stumbling blocks in the learning process. My approach is to help the child identify and remove these stumbling blocks. The child will then be able to regain his / her interest in the subject and be back on the track to success. I have a special talent in reigniting a child’s interest in learning. I strongly believe that children can only realize their full potential if they are interested in what they are doing. A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating from the University of Washington (with honors) in 2001 I have worked extensively in the field of finance. Initially I worked for one of the largest mutual life insurance companies as a product developer, focusing on loss prevention and hedging. After joining a regional Investment Advisory firm I helped develop a two tiered investment platform, focusing on both cash flow analysis and sector rotation strategies. In 2008 I decided to return to college to study accounting and economics. I have a BA from the Univ. of Washington (Geography), Series 7, 63, & 65 professional investment licenses, I am completing my Accounting Certificate (PSU), and I will begin working on my Masters in Economics in the Fall.

Prior to earning my business degree I was a certified secondary education teacher and was employed as a substitute teacher while I earned my business degree. After earning my business degree I worked for a national public accounting and consulting firm as a Consulting Manager. I then became a Financial Analyst and have worked for several prominent Portland corporations for the past 13 years. I have strong accounting and financial skills including advanced excel computer skills.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had experience in tutoring mathematics at local community colleges. I have also tutored chemistry, physics and many medical subjects informally. I have finished classwork in a medical program and have assisted with many classes, mostly in physiology related courses.
I enjoy tutoring, especially with motivated people. I have much experience in translating difficult academic problems to meaningful skills. I still don't have my times tables memorized but can demonstrate difficult fractions and imaginary numbers to others. My experience in laboratory, design and classroom settings allows me to illustrate complex concepts meaningfully. I enjoy working one-on-one to help facilitate deeper understanding.
