A Little Bit About Me...

I have done assistant teaching for my professors at Concord University. I helped set up laboratory equipment, answered college freshmans' questions and provided reasons for why certain biological processes occurred in Biology 102. I only did it for two hours per week, but I learned how to cooperate with college students and provide my insight of biology.
I had no exact teaching method. However, I was able to answer simple questions and allowed the students to work on their problems by discovering some of the ideas themselves.

Even as a student i helped my fellow students to understand and grasp the subjects they were having difficulty with. i can generaly spinn the information into a subject matter that interests the individual or just explain it in an easier to understand manner, offted they just get lolst in the language of teaching. i minnored in math, and majorred in science and agriculture in high school, ansd took veternary technology in colledge this involved mostly biologies and lab technigues.
i have never taught professionaly, but have assisted fellow students. the methods i useed to help them were ither to incorporate the subject matter into a sumject that they had a personal interest in, or manny time i found that they just didnot understand the language of the subject so i reexplained it in simpler terms and they got it just fine.

I have a B.S. in biology. I have previously tutored for 3 years in college level biology and chemistry, and one year in biochemistry. I have also tutored in high school math, and have worked worked with students preparing for the SAT math section. I have previously worked with individuals and small groups and am comfortable with both.
I very much enjoy working with students. I get along easily with others, and am patient and understanding when teaching. I have good listening skills and try to really pinpoint a student's strengths and weaknesses. I have previously worked in a laboratory where I had the opportunity to work with students rotating through my laboratory for school credit. I was an adjunct clinical instructor with the Department of Biotechnology and Clinical Laboratory Sciences with University at Buffalo. Although some students were only there two weeks, most were there three to five months, and it was my responsibility to show them all the analyses that were performed in my laboratory, as well as make sure they understood the theory behind the analyses.
Typically, most students I have worked with are fairly bright, it is just about finding the right way to explain the complicated science in plain english so that they can understand it. Tell the right story, use the right analogy, or draw the right parallels and the student can grasp and understand almost anything.
