I have worked as a substitute teacher in a wide variety of subject areas, and have volunteered as a tutor for some time. However, since beginning a PhD program at UF I have done neither. Though most substitutes are not much more than babysitters, I attempted to teach whatever subject matter was before the students. I enjoy helping others understand concepts that they are struggling with. It is very gratifying when a student has that "a ha" moment. I am a little strict with instruction. If a student is not paying attention or has not completed an assignment that I've asked him/her to do, I will not overlook it. I love the art of teaching. I can teach in many different waysm I love cooperative teaching and facilitating students and let them feel and analyze he topic is at hand(silent learning). I can be a visual teacher, auditory, kinistetic depending on the students needs and what needs to be demonstrated so the student can understand and not memorize what is being taught. All students can learn some at a faster pace and some may need more time. At the present moment I teach a Transition class which is the advanced level of ESL just before continuing to The GED program and these students are in different levels in this class situation I use cooperative approach and peer teaching.
