Tutor: Math, Physics, and Chemistry.

When I was studying engineering at University of Michigan, I took a job as a tutor at Washtenaw Community College. This was the most rewarding job I ever had. Since about the year 2000, I have been working as a freelance tutor in the subjects of math, chemistry and physics. I also tutor students in engineering courses. I generally work with college students or upper-class high school students. Normally I work in the Brighton/Howell Michigan area. I meet most students at a public library or coffee shop. My average rate is $50 per hour. This can be negotiated, however. I like to take the students ability to pay into consideration and will charge less per hour if advanced payment can be arranged.
I like to work one on one with students in a neutral location. Small groups are not out of the question however.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am patient and enjoy working with students that would be classified as difficult. I see that difficulty as being one or two things, they are over achievers and that results in boredom, or they require attention and lack of it results in giving up. I am firm and fair, but always start my classes out with a hopes and fears exercise , where we come together on what expectations we have for one another. We review the contents of that signed document at the conclusion of the course. Each student comes with unique capabilities, I see it as my job to discover that motivation key. I listen and learn , identifying the real obstacles. .
