My comments on tutoring Violin : I have played for eleven years and taken private lessons.

I graduated from Presbyterian College with a double degree in biology and psychology and a minor in chemistry. Many of the courses I completed in biology were in the natural sciences such as paleontology, biogeography, and botany, which I flourished in. I also took organic chemistry I and II, biochemistry, and genetics, which I am good at as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I have played violin for 12 year and have taught for 4 years. I have a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Furman University. I have performed in the Furman Symphony Orchestra, Carolina Youth Symphony, Wren High School Chamber Orchestra, as well as numerous honors ensembles (All State Orchestra, All Region Orchestra, etc.). I currently play in my wedding trio called Upstate Strings Trio. I teach middle school orchestra in Spartanburg District 1.

A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor. I have tutored for 3 years while I worked for Tryon Elementary school. I had great success with the students I worked with, in particular concerning math. I am very qualified to work in a tutoring capacity.
I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. I not only enjoy educating students, I have compassion for students who struggle to succeed. I have learned that every child is unique and all have different learning styles and perhaps, that is why they are struggling with learning some information. I am a strong believe in mulitple intelligences and I strive to help the student learn which is the best way for him or her to learn.
