I strongly support the belief that all children are capable of learning if given sufficient opportunity. As a classroom teacher often facing as many as 37 students at one time, it was difficult to provide the appropriate learning environment for many of these children's needs. Through small group tutoring, however, the right learning environment can be created if the tutor fosters a positive relationship with the student. Developing such a relationship requires considerable patience and consistency on the part of the tutor. Creating such an atmosphere allows the struggling student to expect a reliable mentor to assist her with her studies, while best permitting me to work with the student according to his or her needs.

I prefer to use a hands on approach to education. I like to have the kids get engrossed in the subject matter by reading aloud and taking part in discussion sessions. It is my belief that all children have the capacity to succeed in school with the proper tools. The tools that I provide are first and foremost, respecting the students without any bias.
