My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : I have a MA in English and I have taught college level composition (English 101 and 102). I currently teach high school Advanced English.

I have a BA in English and Creative Writing. I received a MA in English Literature in 2005. I began my teaching career at Calhoun teaching English Composition 101 and 102. I have since been teaching high school (for 8 years) and currently am teaching honors 10 and AP Senior Lit. and Comp. at a local high school. English is my life! ha! I am extremely well read and very well versed. I know what it takes to score well on standardized tests and how to write "A" papers.
I guide the student to his or her understanding of the material. I do not feed information. I ask that the student come to their own conclusions.

My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : 33 years experience as a high school English teacher

I particularly enjoy one-on-one teaching; I also enjoy asking students questions to draw from them the knowledge they are seeking.

I have taught for over twenty years from 4th grade to 9th grade; for the last nineteen years, I have taught English at the middle school level. I began my career teaching 4th grade. I have also taught 5th grade and 6th grade English and Math. I am highly qualified in Reading K-12 and Middle School Mathematics. For thirteen years, I taught 7th grade. I think educators must take into account the different ways in which students learn. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters. If an instructor can build a bridge between new material and material the student has already mastered, the student's retention can significantly improve. By getting to know the interests and knowledge of each, I hope to discover bridges that will make learning an exciting and enjoyable process.
