I worked at a girls scout camp as a counselor. I taught these girls many things about life and about the importance of learning and improving yourself. I have been a counselor at an elementary school and helped in the classroom. Also, I have have been a babysitter for years and helped children with school work, piano, dancing, and much more.

I thoroughly enjoy working with students in any learning atmosphere. I have learned through years of working in both, a volunteer and school atmosphere, that each child has different paces and learning styles. What works for one child may be all wrong for another. First and foremost I believe in teaching/tutoring from where the student is when I meet her or him. This is because if I don't appreciate and understand what the student knows, I can't really begin to imagine where to proceed in order to help them achieve their potential. So, I pay careful attention and ask questions to assess her or his intellectual position and concerns in relation to what it is they wish to accomplish. I am also interested in learning how the student learns because that helps me also imagine how to approach the tutoring process. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been able to develop a great teacher-student relationship of mutual respect and trust. I like to get to know the students learning style so I can adjust my teaching strategy to better fit them. I think it is important to create a situation where the student can feel successful, which will improve their confidence in learning.
I earned my Degree at BYU-Idaho where I majored in Math and minored in Health. While in college I taught some lower level math classes. I went on to work at a year round school working with troubled teens. I was able to learn many different teaching strategies to work with different personalities.
