A Little Bit About Me...

I thoroughly enjoy working with students in any learning atmosphere. I have learned through years of working in both, a volunteer and school atmosphere, that each child has different paces and learning styles. What works for one child may be all wrong for another. Through this each child I feel deserves, not only the time and understanding from someone who cares, but also someone who is willing to put in some added effort and time in to making that child feel confident and comfortable learning. A Little Bit About Me...

While I have taught in various ways and capacities throughout my life, I have always enjoyed most teaching one-on-one. As an undergraduate Spanish minor I tutored fellow undergraduates learning Spanish. As a graduate student I worked as a political science teaching assistant and taught my own classes in American and ethnic literature and culture. As an assistant professor of Ethnic and Mexican American Studies at St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities I taught various classes on American culture, history, and literature. A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my Degree at BYU-Idaho where I majored in Math and minored in Health. While in college I taught some lower level math classes. I went on to work at a year round school working with troubled teens. I was able to learn many different teaching strategies to work with different personalities.
I have been able to develop a great teacher-student relationship of mutual respect and trust. I like to get to know the students learning style so I can adjust my teaching strategy to better fit them. I think it is important to create a situation where the student can feel successful, which will improve their confidence in learning.
