I really starting to help tutor people in high school. I found out that I enjoy helping people with there challenges and watching them succeed. My teaching experience has been primarily focused on elementary education, however I have tutored freshman in English and History. I have a degree in psychology from St. Ambrose in Davenport and finished my licensure at Ottawa University in Phoenix. From my teaching experience at the University of Iowa, I think that the level of understanding of the subject varies from student to student. Some students grasp the subject easily while it is hard for others. Therefore I always try to teach the subject in a manner that will consider all the different levels of students and in which questions are encouraged.

I have over 200 hours of classroom observation and teaching time. I have been an afterschool supervisor/leader at an inner city elementary school. I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science.
I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
