I use a variety of methods such as graphically (visual), practice examples (tactile, repetition), repeating the rules/methods (aural) and occasional humor to help things stick! I recently moved here from California. I have tutored fellow students in high school in Rhode Island, a child, grandchildren, and also tutored folks in California ranging in age from 13-30 in all types of math during the last ten years. Though I do not have a certificate, I plan on getting a temporary certificate in the next few months.

I am a freshman at Missouri southern. Math is my favorite course hands down. Its not very difficult for me. I would prefer to tutor elementary and junior high students, but will also work with highschool kids too. I am majoring in physical education so this really could help me out in my field. I love math, but I am a Chemistry major at MSSU because i didn't find any attractive career as a Mathematician. I tutor a lot, mostly to y friends. I can help in pretty much any general subject like math, philosophy, drawing, painting, geography, and some English as well. I speak English, Gujarati, Hindi.I had my friends tell me that i should be a teacher because they like my teaching style. I am a graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and about to graduate in May 2011 with another Bachelor degree in Recreational Therapy. I was valedictorian in my high school and graduated in the top 10% of my class in college. In addition to that I have 5 years of Spanish I have taken in high school and college and recently went to Oaxaca, Mexico on a study abroad trip for 3 weeks. I believe that the best way for a student to learn is to explain the basics of which subject I am teaching, show a few examples, and then let them discover how to obtain the answers in their own way. It’s very satisfying when I see a student’s mental light click on and their eyes light up in understanding after they figure something out. Positive encouragement is very important too. I have a BA in Creative Writing, which I have put to use not only in my writing but I am a proofreader to several other beginning author’s stories. They rely on me to fix their grammatical, spelling and usage errors so their writing flows more smoothly. In reading books I enjoy teaching others the overall theme, morals and observations that the author was trying to convey. My goal in teaching is to provide the student with the tools to discover and learn new concepts and to apply this knowledge to the learning process. I do not beleive in giving answers, but rather helping the student learn how to find the answers. I am very patient and will go over a concept until it is understood by the student. I enjoy children who are eager to learn, but try to instill a desire to acheive. As an administrator of a school I oversaw the education of children from Kindergarten through twelfth grade.
