I take the time to get to know the student and to understand how he or she learns. I come prepared to the tutoring session with the concepts I plan on teaching and assignments for the students to work on at home. I take time to make worksheets and to prepare activities that help simplify otherwise complex topics.

I also tutored in SUNY Potsdam’s undergraduate mathematics lab for two years. I worked with many students in lower level math courses including Calculus and Probability and Statistics. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate in Accounting, I was given the tools to be able to teach and comprehend a lot of math skills. I was able to take both Business and Math Courses in college including: Business Management, Calculus, Business Accounting, and Algebra. During the last 4 years I have privately tutored students in math and 98% of them went from being F students to B-A students in both math and business courses.
I love to teach students of all ages. I love the looks on their faces when I help them get something that they never thought they would learn. It is easy to talk at a student about how to do a problem. But experience has shown me that this rarely works. Initially, it is important that I learn as much as I can about how the student is doing with the topic involved. I try to use diagrams, graphing calculators, and other visual aids as much as possible. When appropriate, I ask the student to explain to me as much as they can about a topic. This helps me see how much he or she knows and where I should begin in order to help him or her succeed.
Before I became a teacher in Philadelphia, I tutored in a private tutoring agency in Florida (where I was working on my undergraduate degree).
