With a wide range of experience in the teaching field, I am able to provide a learning environment to students with differing learning modalities. My approach challenges students and adults to rise to their potential academically. With a master’s degree and two bachelor degrees, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of positions in the education field. I was the first Wellness Coordinator hired in one northern school district, allowing me to relate with both students and teachers at a state and national level. In addition, I tutor ESL/ELL students as well as students preparing for required state and national based tests. I am currently in the process of transferring my teaching certificate from one state to another, while substitute teaching and tutoring students.

I am qualified to tutor writing, basic computer, reading, basic math, learning, biology, organic chemistry, genetics, geography, and various exams, all from college-level experiences. I had a scientific book in Barnes and Noble, ample graduate-level coursework in Education, experience as a High School teacher, and lived abroad. I have a B.S. in plant biotech from Cornell. I enjoy earnest and humble students, learning with and from them. I feel uncomfortable not learning laterally as well as vertically, seeing that to be knowledgeable, one must not just memorize but ruminate on what was memorized, making as many lateral connections as expedient. I like to simply direct and expand a student's learning as opposed to an artifactual accomplishment; however, my premiere obligation is punctual achievement of task.

Because students learn in different ways, a teacher must understand, appreciate, and adapt various teaching styles. Learning cannot become synonymous with boredom, and I strive to help keep my students engaged. I understand that all students have their strengths and weaknesses and I try to always enhance their strengths and teach them how to use them to their own advantage. I believe that an appreciation of the value of an education is the first step to success. As a teacher, I thrive with challenges and diversity and seek to be a role model and a friend to my students, rather than simply an authority figure. I have worked as a tutor in my college's writing center and as a teaching assistant in major course requirements. I will graduate at the end of this month with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English, having completed more than 90 credit hours in literature studies and 18 credit

During my tenure at Buffalo State College, I volunteered at the Equal Opportunity Program, where my main strength was utilized by actively tutoring students in the art of the english essay. I was able to tutor these students and advise them in the general format of the essay. We began by procurring a general introduction, or a statement of fact,followed by the body of the essay, descriptive references, and tying it all together with a summary that proves the point that you have set out to make. I tutored many different students, but it was apparent that most students who excelled in math and science, struggled with English writing requirements. I love opening up a child's mind to the love of the written word. The possibility of expressing one's private thoughts and experiences have the power to change lives for the better. I have always been patient and understanding with children.
