My philosophy of education is a student centered one. I strongly relate to the adage of serving as the “guide on the side” rather than the “sage on the stage.” I believe in focusing on individual needs, involving and motivating the students in the process of their learning. Their individual differences need to be recognized, respected, and even celebrated. I believe that all students have strengths, and that it is the goal of the teacher to assist them to identify and build upon these. I have always expressed an interest in the education field since graduating high school. I earned my AA as well as my BA while serving on active duty in the Army. I was in the military for 8 years and recently seperated to persue a civilian career in order to be closer to my family. While I was in the military I found myself in leadership positions as well as instructor positions throughout varies activities in my career. A Little Bit About Me...

I always adapt my teaching style to fit the student. I am willing to do just about anything to help a student learn a subject, so long as that student is as dedicated to learning it as I am to teaching it. It takes two people working together in order to have a sucessful tutoring session.
I have tutored most subjects in both in middle school and high school. My most recent experience was tutoring psychology and spanish at the college level. I do not hold a teaching certificate, but I do love to teach.
