I have found that tutoring sessions are most effective when they are fun! Many students find it difficult to stay focused, especially after a full school day. For this reason, I prefer to change tasks frequently and use a variety of fun games to switch up the pace of the session. Learning can be frustrating for many students when a particular subject does not come as naturally or easily as other subjects. Throughout my life I have had the pleasure of working with children through school groups, summer camps, English camps in Eastern Europe, and in the classroom. While my role may change in each setting, the constant in each, is addressing the needs of the child as paramount concern. I feel I shouldn’t enter any teaching situation with pre-conceived notions of what a student is capable of, rather first assess what level they are at, and then tailor learning goals to the particular learner. My teaching style starts with breaking the skill into managable segments for the learner. This can vary from person to person.
