I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Physical Science from California State University, Fresno. I received my first teaching experience as a substitute teacher. I next worked as a long-term substitute teacher for a year. I was then offered a full-time, permanent teaching position as a fourth grade elementary school teacher. This position lasted three years. I will never forget the joy I received each time one of my students learned something that they had been struggling with for some time. When that proverbial light bulb came on and you could see the exact “aha” moment twinkle in their eyes, it made teaching the most rewarding career that I have known thus far.

I thoroughly enjoy working with children of all ages to help them achieve both their immediate and long term goals and objectives. I do believe that every child is an individual with different needs and have their often require individualized attention in order to achieve their educational goals. I like to teach through example and demonstrate practical examples to what the child is learning. Also, I believe that it is important that students have an understanding of the theory as to the “why” of what they are learning and not just how to arrive at the answer.
