I believe that all children can be successful learners. The key is to find the method of teaching that works best for each child. Some children can read something and understand the information perfectly. Others need to have the information read to them and then explained in greater detail. Still others learn best when they are allowed to have hands-on experiences or when the information to be learned is equated to his or her own life. After receiving a degree in Sociology from a New York State University, I went on to earn a provisional teaching certificate in Biology. I have twenty-one graduate hours in Reading and eleven graduate hours in Early Childhood Education. My previous work experience had me working with families where one adult was in need of a GED. This allows the students to get a brief introduction to the day’s material before they work in groups on questions about the material. I feel that student’s can learn best from each other because they are all at the same level. If a group is unsure of an answer they can always ask the teacher or look it up in a book.
