In the process of earning my BA in History (minor in Archaeology), I became familiar with a broad range of historical subjects. My certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) gave me a familiarity with mathematics and statistics, as well as conventions of scientific research and reporting. My MA required a publication-ready thesis, which would not have been possible without organization and self-motivation.
It is widely acknowledged that students learn in a variety of ways. In a tutoring environment, I believe in discovering each student’s optimal learning strategy, as well as identifying techniques for making other styles of teaching accessible. I work with students of various backgrounds, aging from pre teen to retirement age, many with learning disabilities, many who are also ahead of their peers. I have a resource room and lesson plans for each group of students seperated by subject. I help them with Math, time management and note taking. I work closely with other administrative staff and allow students to discover their potential.
I ask questions, I make math fun!! I draw pictures. The assinments are OUR assignments the students are not alone. Math was hard for me too I GET why they are stuck!!
