My teaching style varies with student learning styles. Although drill may be appropriate for some skills, my preference is project or problem based methods that draw on the learner's experiences and interests. I work from students' current skill levels, provide challenging problems, model successful learning skills, encourage students' to express creativity and intuition, and employ formative and normative assessments. I firmly believe that more advanced mathemtaics can be taught to younger and more diverse students. I believe that all students, of all skill levels, can learn mathemtaics if creatively taught.

As a student, I was promoted from hostess to assistant controller of a restaurant within the period of one year and prior to graduation from the community college. I have over 20 years experience working in accounting and the last 12 of those years as the supervisor of the accounting department in roles titled accounting manager and controller.
