I am an upcoming May 2006 graduate from Allegheny College, majoring in English. Given my background at a small, liberal arts college and being a former biochemistry major, I have a great understanding of language arts, math and science. I have completed a 60 page research project as well completed numerous written projects throughout my college career, that have undoubtedly strengthened my writing skills. In high school, as well as in college, I have tutored students anywhere from the middle school level to the high school level in all subjects. I have worked with students from youth development centers to rural students. I have been and adjunct professor at both the Univ of Vermont (1989 EE Dept) and Mercyhurst college (2003 Erie PA Chem Dept)and taught college level courses. I became a consultant in 1995 and also became a certified instructor for the Nat'l Assn of Surface Finishers (NASF) for various courses relating to plating and environmental science. Currently, I am an online math tutor. I tutor students at the elementary and middle school level. Prior to becoming a tutor I was a Middle School Math teacher at an alternative school. I have also tutored Elementary students in Reading and Math in previous years. I believe that all children should be given the opportunity to learn and succeed. I feel that it is my job to create a safe, secure, and fun environment in order for learning to take place. I use all the main teaching tools. Both hands on and visually for those students who need different tools. I love to interact with children and adults helping them through their classes to better their future. I also enjoy having a hand in their future success. I truely believe that a great teacher is one who teaches for the greater growth of their pupils and personally I strive to help them succeed.
