I am an upcoming May 2006 graduate from Allegheny College, majoring in English. Given my background at a small, liberal arts college and being a former biochemistry major, I have a great understanding of language arts, math and science. I have completed a 60 page research project as well completed numerous written projects throughout my college career, that have undoubtedly strengthened my writing skills. In high school, as well as in college, I have tutored students anywhere from the middle school level to the high school level in all subjects. Throughout my education, I have come to learn and adapt to many different types of learners. A Little Bit About Me...

My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well. I also like to use visual aids as well as conversation. I have found that many of us vary widely in learning styles. Some are visual learners, others are audio learners, and still others are a combination. I work well one-on-one but also enjoy small groups. I look forward to working with you or your children to produce results they can be proud of.

I’m a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh (2009) with a B.S. in Business Administration. After graduation, I realized my true calling while working at my YMCA in our Child Development Center. My title was an office coordinator position, but I took further responsibilities to help out our teachers in our preschool and toddler classrooms. Along with helping out the preschool classes, I have also worked with our school-aged children. This is where I learned that helping children grow is what I enjoy to do and plan to do for the rest of my career.
