Special Needs Tutor

I have been trained in many therapeutic settings (speech, OT, social skills groups, schools) to work with children with special needs and Autism. I have worked as a 1:1 assistant to children with Autism and other disabilities including ADHD, social/emotional disorders, MR, and Down Syndrome in the Concord and Bow school Districts (Prek- 8th grade). I also have hands on experience with my 8 yr old son who has ASD.
My teaching style is fun and following the child's lead by using their interests to help them learn. Reward systems as well

As a valued member of the ANA faculty and team I continually worked to lift the standards and proficiency of all the students that I taught both directly and indirectly to prepare them for the rigors of high school and college. As the English Department Chair I mentored and provided leadership to the staff I supervised as well as my fellow colleagues. I earned a BS in Education as well as a Certification in TESL. As a creative writing major at school, i was an avid member of our newspaper, serving as copy editor. When i graduated college i continued my summer job as a technical writer at an engineering company. My last position was also an assistant technical writer. Both positions required knowledge of AP style, extreme detail to grammar and an ability to write different styles. After school in between finding career positions, i briefly tutored and substitued as a paraprofessional in the nearby school district. I was an self employed as a tutor and primarily saw elementary aged children who were immigrants. We specifically concentrated on spelling, reading and mathematics.
