I assisted the regional manager in the operations of the company. I also worked as their top tutor in a supervisory position. I was always interested in the Spanish language. My family had a Spanish housekeeper. She was like a grandmother and why I chose to take Spanish. Then I had a Spanish teacher who encouraged me to continue learning and I did. I studied a semester abroad in Costa Rica and lived there for 2 years, immersing myself in the language and becoming more fluent. To live down there I became certified in teaching English as a foreign language. During my 2 years in Costa Rica I worked for many institutes teaching students of varying ages and ability levels. Upon returning to the USA I was hired by Southwestern Community College and worked for 3 years as a part time ESL instructor.

I am a graduate of Appalachian State University and am currently a graduate student in Reading at Clemson University. I have a BS in elementary education and absolutely love working with children. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to work with children of all ages and genders. I have worked with children who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities as well as children of all ages, races, and genders. I attempt to make learning as fun and relevant to the child as possible as every child has varying levels of understanding and concentrations. I am extremely patient and can handle anything. I like to relate learning to childrens' lives (make it about basketball if the boy likes basketball, or about chocolate if the girl likes chocolate).
I was a peer tutor in high school for English and Spanish. I also tutored children in Hebrew at a local temple. In addition, I volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged children in Chicago in all areas: Spelling, Reading, Writing, Math, Language, etc. for grades K-8.
