I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way. Since this is my area of expertise, I am able to come up with examples on the fly that will target the areas most troublesome to the student. Mathematics is a field that requires repetition but making that repetition as interesting as possible is a fun challenge. I do not wish to be a teacher by profession but I do enjoy helping individuals or small groups with science and mathematics.
I have formally tutored with Madison College on two occasions lasting a year. I was also Tutoring throughout my time at Edgewood on a drop in basis with any students that came to the math department and could not reach a professor. I have a BS in Mathematics and doing math at all levels is fun for me.

To be a teacher is to be a guide: A guide knows the landscape, has the right equipment, and can quickly adapt to a changing climate. I know academia and the kinds of assignments that professors give and the quality of work they expect. I also know the kinds of mistakes that students too often make. I have the right “equipment:” years of experience teaching students the ins-and-outs of crafting – and completing – research projects and a “pack” of useful tricks for breaking down seemingly intractable problems.
