My comments on tutoring Biology : provided study guides

Over the years I have developed study skills to help students with special needs as well as help individuals with special needs on the job site. I interview a potential student to find out the best way he or she learns. I would then adapt my teaching style to their learning method.I have worked with visually impaired students who needed me to transcribe their classroom tapes into braille or who needed me to write lecture notes for them. I worked with students who were taking English as a Second Language writing up grammar lessons,participating in Bridge classes, developing study hours for conversational practices at home and using pictures to get across ideas. As a Michigan State graduate, I am still very passionate about education, and believe that learning does not stop when you leave the classroom. I have earned a bachelors degree in Dietetics, which included a rigorous science and research based curriculum, as well as ways to improve teaching and counseling techniques. Learning is not a one size fits all process, it is critical to find what works best for the student. I just finished my first year of teaching science for grades 6-12 in a remote school in Nevada. It has been noted from a previous employer that I can shift very quickly between different groups of students to adjust to what is developmentally appropriate. I relate very well to both the junior high and high school age levels. I was the 8th grade class advisor and the junior high track coach. I maintained the science curriculum for a seven period, four day school week.
