Teaching and tutoring are my passion. To see the light in student's eyes when they gain new understanding and/or work through a problem. I believe the best way to accomplish that is to not only teach them the information, but more importantly to show them how to do it themselves, so that learning becomes a lifetime occupation. As a graduate of a Liberal Arts university in Virginia, I excelled in English, History, Law, and Foreign Languages. Writing thoroughly-researched and articulate essays were my speciality. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.
I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!

As a Controller, analyst and consultant of Computerized Accounting systems for small and medium sized businesses, I have 25 years plus, of extensive experience training and teaching both accounting and non-accounting executives how to data entry in 'subsidiary journals' like Accounts Receivable, Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets and how to reconcile to 'control accounts' in General Ledger. My approach to tutoring would be to explain the mechanics of recording business transactions (two sides to a transactions, thus "double entry") rather than rote learning.This would benefit them to pass exams as well as in business if they chose to pursue a career in business and finance.
