Education is my life. From a very young age, I loved school and learning. It all started with my brother and his learning disability. I tutored him all throughout his academic career. In college I tutored elementary students through the CARE program. I then decided to be an English Education major and have been teaching ever since. Currently, I am finishing my graduate work at East Carolina University and working on the addition of TESL on to my teaching license. I have spent the last 10 years as a student and as an instructor. I realized that I needed computer skills and decided to get the skills necessary to survive. While I was a student, I acted as a tutor. This reminded me how much I love teaching. After I graduated from Nash, I began working as an adjunct instructor. In this capacity, I have worked in all levels of education. I enjoy corporate training and immured instruction. I am currently trying to finish my MS in Instructional Technology at East Carolina University. I have tutored every thing from basic English and Math to Networking. I have a minor in English. I have informally tutored people of various age ranges in the subjects, physics and math , for a period that ranges over about three years . I have taught younger relatives as well as helped people informally on online tutoring message boards with math and physics problems. I have also been paid to assist students in how to operate the basic commands of computational mathematical software for three years as well. I would be glad to work with students of all ages, but I prefer to work with a student individually rather than work with students in a group. From both my experience of being an informal tutor and being tutored, I find that students general prefer this style of tutoring because the tutor can both focus and better access their student's strengths and weaknesses in the particular academic subject they are having difficulty with.

I love to teach, it is my passion in life. Every student has intelligence and every student is a genius in one subject or another in school. Any and all students can learn you just have to apply the material to them that fits their particular interests. I try to stay up to date on all the new trends and fads that kids are into in order to stay fresh and up to date with them and apply all my knowledge in science and in other subjects to fit them specifically. I have no one set way to teach any level of student because each person and group dynamic is much different than the next. I try to adapt all my lessons to fit all the learning styles (visual, auditory, hands-on, etc). I believe that most academic difficulties come from small gaps in knowledge and a misunderstanding of how parts relate to the whole. I have been a counselor in the public schools for the past 16 years, both at the elementary and high school levels.
