Learning is a journey. I have a map but you have the wheels

As a lifelong learner I understand the importance of an effective teacher. I have been teaching and assisting college level classes for 2 years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Teaching is a great joy for me, as it is easy to see I love working with children of all ages. I enjoy the challenge that arises when teaching a group of children that learn in different ways. Understanding that it is important for all to learn, finding creative ways to get points across and bring the students into the topic has always been amazing. I taught Environmental Science to disadvantaged kids in McKenzie, TN while on summer break from college and then I taught young children about animals and their lifesytles at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I am currently working on a master's degree in secondary science. I suffered from a learning disability when I was a high school student, so I understanding students when they just aren't able to quite understand and know that it's okay to seek help.
I feel that each student has their own individual style of learning and I will take that into consideration when tutoring your son/daughter. A Little Bit About Me...

I am practical and to the point. I explain the occurrence and give examples. Once I see the students grasp the concept or idea that we are discussing, then I give them more to build on the subject. I enjoy interactions and questions because it helps seal the information. As well, in the traditional style of how school is presented I like out loud repetition because it activates the memory brain pathways which helps with maximal retention.
