My comments on tutoring Civil Engineering : I spent four years at the University of Florida studying Nuclear Engineering - a primary component of which is power generation, which has applications and requires training in the Civil Engineering sector. As such, I have received training in Civil Engineering, and following my graduation spent four months as an intern for a Civil Engineering company. Many of the subjects applicable to Civil Engineering are statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and so on. These are core courses for Nuclear Engineering students to complete, and I have done so. Ergo, my degree should speak for itself insofar as my qualifications are concerned.

I love seeing people understand something once I explain it to them in a way that they can understand it. I also love working with kids and teenagers because I believe that if we have a positive influence on young people they will grow up to be the leaders that our nation needs. I am a very patient person and that is reflected in the way I teach. When I tutor in an individual basis I allow the student to do most of the writing that way the brain needs to process what it hears in order to write it down. I enjoy teaching Math and Science because I find them easy to learn. I find it very satisfying when I tutor someone and at the end I can tell that they have learned something, I find this to be one of the things I do best. I do not have one teaching style. Just as people have individual learning styles, I adapt my teaching style to the student and to the course that I would be tutoring. It is important that all students graduate with all the knowledge, skills, abilities, and values to have a happy and productive life. In order to have this happen, I do not believe that one teaching style fits all. As a tutor I would show my students how to properly do a task, and then I will help them master the task. It is important the student understand and can independently demonstrate what they have learned. No matter what teaching style I use, it will be a style that would be interesting and encourage the student to participation, and to ask for help.
